Introduction
Reddit has grown to be an influential platform for discussing issues online, as the 20th most visited website in the world as of August 2021 (Dean, 2021). COVID-19 has also exacerbated the need and popularity of online platforms such as Reddit (Social Media Use During COVID-19 Worldwide - Statistics & Facts, 2022), empowering users with a community to interact with in this trying pandemic. Moreover, Reddit does not provide a comprehensive analysis of user activity in their app, leaving ample room for insightful data analytics in terms of users, posts and subreddit trends.
As such, our group proposes to develop a dashboard app that summarises subreddit activity data to users in an interactive manner, measuring engagement level and sentiments in a subreddit. This data can be useful for businesses to identify trending topics for marketing and consumer engagement, governments to evaluate user perception towards policies and local issues, as well as for individuals to discover and participate in trending topics globally. This also has applications in providing a macro view for moderation through analysing engagements in different subreddits and as a whole.
